Affiliate Disclosure
Transparency about how SpeakerHQ earns, what that does not change, and the exact legal frame we operate under.
The short version
SpeakerHQ is reader-supported. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases made through links on this site, at no extra cost to you. Prices and availability change.
How it works in practice
When you click a product link on this site and complete a qualifying purchase at Amazon within its attribution window (typically 24 hours of the click), Amazon may credit a small commission to SpeakerHQ - typically a low single-digit percentage of the sale price, depending on the product category. The price you pay is identical to what every other shopper pays. There is no up-charge and no “exclusive” pricing.
Every outbound buy link points directly to Amazon and carries our Amazon Associates tracking ID (?tag=) plus the HTML attribute rel=“nofollow sponsored noopener” per the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR Part 255 guidance on endorsements and the Amazon Associates Program Operating Agreement. The tag is a plain URL parameter, not a tracking script. The price you pay is unaffected.
What disclosure looks like on this site
- Every product detail page shows a disclosure line directly under the “Where to buy” button: “We earn a commission on qualifying purchases. Confirm the live price at Amazon.”
- Every product card in the catalog includes a per-product disclosure note in its data record.
- Every quiz result page carries the same affiliate disclaimer above the recommended-products bundle.
- The site footer on every page links here, to this disclosure document.
What we deliberately never do
- Fabricate prices, star ratings, or review counts. Every “best of” site you have ever scrolled past with suspiciously uniform 4.7-star ratings is fabricating those numbers. We do not.
- Show fake countdown timers or invented stock counts. Retailer program terms prohibit this, and so do we.
- Claim hearing-safety or medical benefits. Speakers are entertainment equipment, not medical devices. See our hearing safety page for the actual exposure data.
- Scrape or republish retailer review content, customer photos, or pricing data. Retailer terms and copyright prohibit republishing these. We do not.
- Misuse retailer or brand trademarks or imply endorsement. Plain “Where to buy” text on outbound buttons. No logo lift, no claim of endorsement.
- Accept paid placement, sponsored rankings, or featured-listing fees from any brand or retailer. Not from any retailer, not from manufacturers. The catalog is editorial.
If a product appears at the top of an archetype on this site, it is because it earned the position editorially - not because anyone paid for it. We have turned down sponsored-placement offers and will continue to.
Why we do it this way
The mobile DJ buying audience already gets bombarded by fake-review affiliate spam. SpeakerHQ exists to be the version that audience can actually trust. The revenue ceiling is lower than the spam alternative, but the credibility moat is the point. We would rather earn slowly with honest recommendations than fast with fabricated ones.
Legal frame
- FTC 16 CFR Part 255 - the U.S. rules on material connections and endorsement disclosure. We disclose at every touchpoint, in plain English, before the link.
- The Amazon Associates Program Operating Agreement - we use the required affiliate-link mechanism (our tracking tag on outbound Amazon links), do not republish prohibited content, and do not misuse Amazon’s trademarks or imply endorsement.
- EU / UK consumer protection rules - this site does not target EU consumers commercially, but the same disclosure language applies if you are reading from those jurisdictions.
Questions or concerns
If you spot a recommendation that looks paid for, a missing disclosure, or anything that looks off - tell us. The whole point of this approach is that we can be corrected publicly. See the About page for contact channels.
